Product Description

Fair Trade Chinese Black Tea – Loose Leaf

Surprisingly delicate black tea with honey overtones from Xishuangbanna in South West Yunnan, China. Sourced from our friends at the IMO certified T-project.

Preparation tip

Steep one tablespoon in freshly boiled water 1-3 minutes and leave in the cup. The same leaves will make a delicious cup of tea for up to 4 infusions.

The Origins of Tea

Legend has it that tea was discovered by the divine emperor Shen Nong in 2737BC and it has certainly been enjoyed as a drink in China for almost 2000 years. The oldest tea trees in the world are found in the Xishuangbanna region of Yunnan, China, where out tea is cultivated. All tea varieties are harvested from the same species of tree, known as Camellia Sinensis, but processed differently to achieve a variety of flavours. Black tea is known as ‘hong cha’ or red tea in China and is the result of oxidising the tea leaves heavily.
