The Origins of Tea
Legend has it that tea was discovered by the divine emperor Shen Nong in 2737BC and it has certainly been enjoyed as a drink in China for almost 2000 years. The oldest tea trees in the world are found in the Xishuangbanna region of Yunnan, China, where out tea is cultivated. All tea varieties are harvested from the same species of tree, known as Camellia Sinensis, but processed differently to achieve a variety of flavours. White tea is withered in sunlight harvesting and is the least oxidised of all tea varieties. The infused tea is very pale yellow in colour and beautifully fragranced.
