This beautiful scarf was handwoven on the outskirts of Vientiane in Laos using traditional techniques. The silk is handspun and dyed with all natural dyes. It is a work of art in its own right. Lao silk does not have the feel of other silks, being coarser in texture but the real beauty comes from the patterns handed down from generation to generation and woven into the fabric. The more intricate the pattern, the more work required and ultimately the more valuable the scarf.
